Travel Bugs is an iPhone app in development. These notes describe this website and the current prototype; they are not a promise about a future shared service.
This website
This is a small informational website. It has no signup form, account login, advertising, analytics scripts or third-party embeds. Artwork, styles and prototype videos are served from this website. Videos load when you choose to play them.
Website hosting and network providers may process ordinary request information, such as an IP address, request path, time and browser information, to deliver and protect the site. A finalized operational logging and retention policy has not been published yet.
Location while exploring
The prototype requests location while you use the app to find nearby places and check arrival. Real arrival, pickup, drop-off and geocache signing require a fresh nearby location reading. The app does not request background location or record a continuous route history.
The fictional demo journey works without GPS. Its progress is kept separate from the personal journey stored on the device.
Camera and photo saving
The selfie experience requests the front camera when opened. Your original 3D Travel Bug appears in front of the camera image. It does not use face tracking or request microphone access.
A captured photo stays in memory while that screen is open. The app does not automatically upload it. You choose whether to save it to Photos or send it through the iPhone share sheet. Saving requests permission to add a photo; it does not request access to read your photo library. A shared image is then handled by the destination you choose.
The simulator’s illustrated selfie layout is a framing preview, not a real photo. It cannot be saved or shared from the preview screen.
Local and future shared journeys
The current personal and demo journeys are saved separately on the device. Prototype screenshots and videos on this website do not establish that a public shared game is available.
Shared account and journey services are still being developed. Before public account use, the service’s operator details, stored data, retention, account support and deletion process need to be documented. These notes do not claim that those features or policies are complete.
Availability and questions
No public App Store or beta build is available yet. A public support contact has not been announced. Confirmed contact and release details will be listed on the help and availability page.
